The end of second semester is finally approaching, which also means that finals are lurking just right around the corner. The first period final will be given Tuesday, Dec. 15. Second and fourth period finals will be given on Wednesday, Dec. 16, third and fifth period finals on Thursday, and seventh and sixth period finals on Friday. Wednesday through Friday, each period will last approximately two hours, shortening the regular school day. Chick-Fil-A biscuits will be sold during the break between the two periods. Students should be aware that lunch will not be served on the days of finals. In addition, students will be allowed to leave school early on the day they have their lunch period. However, a note from a parent is required to leave campus.
Although it is a given that students are desperately anxious for winter break, teachers are just as anticipative for this year’s holiday break. While teachers are overwhelmed with assignments left to grade and finals to prepare, students are still being overloaded with quizzes and tests the week before finals. This makes it nearly impossible for students to study for finals in advance. Seniors are finding that last-minute college applications are difficult to squeeze into their already busy schedules. Winter break will definitely be worth all of the stress and frantic last-minute studying during the week of finals.
The last day of first semester is Friday, Dec. 18. Students will be able to enjoy a 17-day winter break without the worries of homework, tests, and grades. Second semester will commence Tuesday, Jan. 5, making this winter break the longest in almost a decade.
