Eligibility and Requirements

Students must provide the following documentation before engaging in practice or sports activity. He/She must also meet all eligibility requirements set forth by GHSA and Gwinnett County Public Schools.

Insurance Policy

Student insurance coverage is offered through Peters Insurors at the beginning of each school year. Each student participating in extra-curricular activities or sports must either have insurance coverage through this agency, or provide proof that they are adequately covered by a family insurance plan. If students opt not to participate in the insurance provided by Peters Insurors, they and their parents sign a Waiver of Insurance form with family insurance information noted to be kept on file in the athletic director's office. This must be completed before any student is allowed to participate in practice or competition.

Medical History and Warning Form

A Medical History and Warning form will be sent home to be signed by the parents. This form states that parents give permission for their child to participate in each sport and authorizes each head coach to act on behalf of the student in case of emergency. This is a part of the Physical Form. (Forms can be obtained in the front office or in room 623 (Mrs. Johnson's office).

Physical Examinations

Each student must have a physical examination prior to being allowed to participate in a sport. Physicals are good for one calendar year. Completed forms must be on file with the coach.

Eligibility

No Pass No Play Regulations - North Gwinnett offers the opportunity for students to participate on various athletic teams and in academic activities. Team membership is subject to tryouts and Georgia High School Association (GHSA) Regulations. In order to be eligible to compete in athletic and/or academic competition, students must have passed at least five subjects the preceding semester and be on track for graduation. On track implies that, sophomores must have five units, juniors must have eleven units, and seniors must have 16 units to be eligible to participate in athletics. A student must also meet the residency requirements as established by GHSA.
