    • North Gwinnett ranks #1 in Gwinnett County and #557 in America according to Newsweek's "Top Public High Schools".
    • 8 Governor's Honors Program Finalists: Dance (Sarah D'Urso), Social Studies (Brandon Gordon), Piano (Seda Hocaoglu), Math (Jung Kim), Technology (Daniel Lei), Vocal Music (Bryan Lewis), Visual Art (Ji Young Park) and Chemistry (Sarah Williams).
    • Engineering Team ranked #1 in Georgia and #6 in the Nation according to TEAMS (Tests in Engineering Aptitude, Mathematics and Science), sponsored by the Junior Engineering and Technical Society (JETS).  3rd Consecutive State Championship!  
    • Reading Team ranked #1 in Georgia
    • #1 in Area and Gwinnett County in Georgia Mathematics League competition, #6 team in Georgia, #3 student in Georgia (Joe Fang)
    • In the Greater Atlanta Mathematics Examination, North Gwinnett finished second (out of seventeen Metro Atlanta high schools competing) and first among all Gwinnett County High Schools.
    • North Gwinnett Key Club received the Gwinnett Top School award for March of Dimes Walk America for the second straight year (2005 and 2006)
    • NorthGwinnett.com is a 2006 Winner of the International Student Media Festival awards.
    • Placed 4th in Region 3 (the Southeastern states) in Mu Alpha Theta's National Log 1 Contest
    • Gordon College Writing Awards State Level (First Place essay: Abbey Platts, Third Place essay and poem: Billie Damren)
    • River of Words National Poetry Contest: of approximately 7,000 entries in the high school category 3 students placed in the top twenty (Taylor Volkman, Lauren Ann Fowler, DeZaune Olive)
    • Region 7AAAAA Literary Meet (First Place Essay: Katherine Park, Second Place Essay: Michael Parrn 7AAAAA Second Place Spelling: Michael Parr and Katherine Park
    • First Place poem in the Gwinnett County Public Library Poetry Contest (Jessica Thai)

    • Two student web teams placed in 5 of 15 categories in the Technology Association of Georgia's (TAG) 2006 Webchallenge Contest, winning 1st place in both Concept and Interactivity categories, and 3rd Overall.
    • In Theater, Courtney Holbrook and Michelle Wood won for individual acting excellence, sub-region One-Act competition

    • Girls Softball, State Elite Eight, most wins in school history (28)
    • Gwinnett County Girls Softball Player of the Year (Jessica Batten)

    • Tony Watkins (Girls Basketball) was selected Gwinnett County coach of the year (Gwinnett Daily Post)
