Standardized Tests
The standardized tests are tests administered by the state of Georgia or by the nation. For example, the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) and the American College Testing (ACT) are national tests. Tests, such as the Gateway, are school administered tests.
See the general descriptions below for those specific exams.
For information on the school administered tests, please visit the Student Testing page, under the Instructional Services page. The tests that are listed below are required to graduate, and more information is listed on the Instructional Services page. Click the links to access the information.

ACT
The American College Testing, or ACT, is America's most widely accepted college entrance exam. It measures a student's ability to complete college level work and gauges his/her educational development thus far in his/her school career. Like the SAT, the ACT has both a multiple choice and an essay portion. However, the essay part is optional.

ASVAB
The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery, the ASVAB, given in October, helps students select a career field according to their interests and abilities. This test is offered through the military, but commitment to military service is NOT required. Students who wish to take this test must first sign up for it in the guidance office.

PSAT
The PSAT will be administered each October. This test is excellent preparation for this Scholasic Aptitude Test (SAT), which is required by colleges and universities. Eleventh grade students must take the PSAT during their junior year in order to qualify for the National Merit Scholarship Program.
The PSAT is administered to all freshmen and sophomores and is provided free of charge by the Gwinnett County Board of Education. Juniors may register to take PSAT for a $12 fee.
SAT
The Scholastic Aptitude Test, or SAT, is one of the most important factors in determining which colleges a student can get accepted to. The SAT is made up of a multiple choice and essay portion. Due to the magnitude of the impact this test can have on a student's career, students are encouraged to take the SAT multiple times until a desirable score is achieved.
